Rotary needs its first Rotary Community Leaders!

Clubs in Zone 8 have recently been allocated to Rotary Community Groups (RCGs), a new way for clubs to collaborate so they can achieve more than they could on their own.

Now each RCG needs a Leader to guide them on their path to success!

We need passionate Rotarians and Rotaractors to put themselves forward for the brand new role of Rotary Community Leader (RCL) – will you be one of them?

Next steps

1. Read the general position description for the RCL role.

2. For information on what your specific RCG is looking for in a Leader, access your RCG’s Establishment Meeting Notes in this Dropbox folder. This folder is being updated regularly as RCGs complete their Establishment Meetings, so if your RCG’s Notes are not currently available they will be soon.

3. Sign up to attend one of the following briefings for potential RCL candidates on Zoom:

  • Thursday 14 March 6pm AEDT

  • Friday 15 March 1pm AEDT

  • Sunday 17 March 11am AEDT

  • Wednesday 20 March 6pm AEDT

  • Thursday 21 March 3pm AEDT

A recording of one of the sessions will also be made available on this website.

What is a Rotary Community Leader?

RCLs are volunteer facilitators who will support their RCG to achieve their goals and make an even bigger impact in the world.

This is a great opportunity to enhance your facilitation and leadership skills and make a difference. RCLs will be supported by a top rate learning and development program, a peer support team, and a Rotary Community Nominee on the Regional Council.

While it is not a paid role, RCLs will be reimbursed for certain costs incurred while carrying out their duties.

Who can be a Rotary Community Leader?

To be an RCL, you must:

  • Have been a Rotary or Rotaract member for at least two years – although four years is preferable

  • Be a current member of one of the clubs in the RCG you would like to lead

  • Be supported by your Club and confirmed by your club President as a member of good standing

If you become a Rotary Community Leader, you can also be a Rotary Specialist or a Portfolio Committee Member at the same time. In fact, you can hold all three roles at once!

How can I become a Rotary Community Leader?

Simply submit an Expression of Interest once your RCG’s Establishment Meeting Notes have been made available.

To find out how to submit an Expression of Interest form for your RCG:

Geographic RCGs: Contact the District Governor who is running the election process for your RCG. In most cases this will be your District Governor. However, this may not be the case if your RCG spans more than one District.

Online Rotaract-specific RCGs: Contact Eeshwar Rajagopalan at eeshwar@rotaract.org.au.

E-Club RCG: Contact Kalma McLellan at kalmamclellan@optusnet.com.au.

Please ensure your Expression of Interest is in by the deadline set for your RCG.

Once Expressions of Interest close, every club in an RCG will submit one preferential vote to elect their Rotary Community Leader.

If you have any questions about the RCL role, email RotaryRegionalPilot@gmail.com.

We look forward to welcoming our new Rotary Community Leaders!
